I used to go to the Olympic Stadium when i was young and made many crazy things there while i was a
teen during the eighties. Me and my friends were very eager to see the Expos and many times we
jumped over the fences at the Olympic Stadium to get better seats. We , at a certain time , were having
fun by making weird things. Some of them were not ok but we were still kids. We had put fire in the
bathrooms paper towel once (i still remember seeing the security running like fools and throwing water
in the fire) and another time we put a lot of paper in the toilets which resulted in a big mess with water in
the hallway. I remember the security guards chasing us with their golf cart! It was so funny but also so
crazy from us... We got thrown out a couple of times by the security guards. I don't think it was right
doing this but i had so much fun doing those crazy things that i wanted to share it with others because
this it what i will remember the most about the Expos = the fun i had going there. I did many things at
the big O and i will always remember it. I miss the Expos badly and i still cry when i watch old games i
have like the Dennis Martinez perfect game vs the Dodgers in LA on dvd and the 2004 (or is it 2003?)
opening match which i attended myself. Recently , i got a Guerrero bobblehead , Vlad of course , and
also got an old official Expos game used cracked bat with a proof of authenticity. I have a cap and a
t-shirt and other souvenirs which will help me continue thinking about them for the rest of my life. The
worst thing ill remember is the Loria presence with the Expos. I will always remember him as being the
false prophet , the false messiah who made so many projects concerning a new baseball park and
finally destroyed the fans hopes by cancelling those projects and selling his parts in the team to the
MLB. He was the last Montreal Expos real owner and the only one who could have saved them but he
did the contrary by disappointing the few last Expos fans there was after many years of fire sales and
bad news. I will never forgive him for this and will never forgive the MLB for not supporting the team and
for moving it to Washington. We all know that if there would not have been a strike in 1994 , maybe the
Expos would have won the championship and the story might not have been the same after that. Like
Jacques Doucet , the famous French baseball commentator in Montreal , i still hope that the baseball
will come back someday in Montreal. Finally , i had so much fun with the Olympic Stadium security
guards that I'm now one myself and i wish i could work for the Expos and catch the little kids doing bad
things during the ball game :)
