Rondell White Inks One-Year Deal With Twins
12/21/06 – Rondell White, a former first round draft pick by the
Expos has signed a one-year contract with the Minnesota
Twins worth $2.75 million.
White appeared in 99 games last season for the Twins and hit
.254 with seven home runs and 38 RBI despite problems with
his right shoulder. He has a .286 lifetime average to go along
with 194 home runs and 748 RBI over 14 seasons that also
included stints with the Cubs, Yankees, Padres, Royals and
Tigers.
After being selected to the USA Today and Collegiate Baseball
All-American squads in 1990, he was selected 24th overall in
the amateur draft by Montreal . Floyd played in parts of eight
seasons with the Expos and posted career highs with 28
home runs and 82 RBI in 1997. He was traded to Chicago on
July 31, 2000 for pitcher Scott Downs.
White’s deal with the Twins also contains a second-year
option for $3.5 million plus performance bonuses.
