Barnes Named D-Rays Coordinator
11/30/06 – Skeeter Barnes, who played in 19 games for the
Expos in 1985, has been named the minor league outfield and
baserunning coordinator for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
Barnes was the manager for the Southwest Michigan Devil Rays
of the Class-A Midwest League last season after serving as their
hitting coach in 2005. He had also been the organization’s
Double-A hitting coach in 2003 and 2004.

Originally drafted by Cincinnati in 1978, Barnes made his major league debut with the
Reds on September 6, 1983 and was twice hit by pitches. He played professionally for
17 years including nine years in the majors, compiling a .259 average with 14 home
runs and 83 RBI. Barnes had two stints in Cincinnati and also played withSt. Louis and
Detroit .
While with the Expos in 1985, Barnes went 4 for 26 in limited playing time.
