Alou Signs One-Year Deal With Mets
11/20/06 – Former Montreal
outfielder Moises Alou has signed
a one-year contract with the New
York Mets worth $7.5 million.  The
deal also contains an option for
2008.

The 40-year-old Alou hit .301 with
22 home runs and 74 RBI this past
season while with the San
Francisco Giants.  He now replaces
former Expo teammate Cliff Floyd in
the Mets outfield.

Alou broke into the majors in 1990,
playing two games for Pittsburgh
before being dealt to the Expos.  He
played for Montreal through 1996
and enjoyed one of his best
seasons in 1994 when he was
named the All-Star Game Most
Valuable Player, won a Silver
Slugger Award and finished third in
National League M.V.P voting.

A six-time All-Star, Alou has a career .301 average to go along with 319 homers
and 1,229 RBI over a 15-year career that also included stints with the Marlins,
Astros and Cubs.
