White Sox Promote Shines to Third Base Coach
11/1/06 – The Chicago White Sox have
named former Montreal infielder/outfielder
Razor Shines as their new third base coach.
Shines, 49, has spent the last six years in
the White Sox organization, serving most
recently as manager of their Triple-A
affiliate in Charlotte , North Carolina . He
led the Knights to a 79-62 record in 2006
including a spot in the International League
playoffs. In 2005, he was named the
Southern League Manager of the Year after
guiding Double-A Birmingham to an 82-57
record.

Shines has served as a coach in the All-Star Futures Game in each of the last two
seasons and also led the Winston-Salem Warthogs to the Carolina League title in
2003. In seven years as a minor league manager, Shines has compiled a 508-470
mark.
In parts of four seasons in the majors, Shines played in 68 games for the Expos
between 1983 and 1987. He recorded a .185 career average to go along with five
RBI.
