White Sox Fire Raines
Raines broke into the majors with Montreal in 1980
and played with the Expos through 1990 before
rejoining the team for part of the 2001 season. In a
23-year career, Raines compiled a .294 lifetime
average to go along with 170 home runs, 980 RBI and
808 stolen bases.
While with the Expos, Raines was named to the
National League All-Star team seven times and was
named the Most Valuable Player of the 1987 game. He
also led the N.L. in stolen bases four times and won
the batting title in 1986. Montreal retired his uniform
number 30 in 2004.
Raines was the only member of the White Sox
