Foli On The Mend
6/10/06 – Former Expos infielder Tim
Foli, currently the manager of the Triple-
A New Orleans Zephyrs, has taken a
leave of absence from the team after
leaving last Thursday’s game due to
heat exhaustion.
Foli, 55, spent the night at Kenner
Regional Medical Center and was
released on Friday after undergoing a
series of tests. It is not known how
long Foli will be away from the team. In
the interim, hitting coach Rick Eckstein,
pitching coach Steve McCatty and Scott
Little, the Washington Nationals field
coordinator in charge of all minor
league teams, will run the club.
Foli spent 16 years in the majors, compiling a .251 lifetime average to go
along with 25 home runs and 501 RBI. He played in Montreal from 1972
through 1977 and was a member of the 1979 world champion Pittsburgh
Pirates.
