San Francisco Cuts Ties With Fassero
4/9/06 – Pitcher Jeff Fassero, who made his
major league debut with the Expos in 1991, was
designated for assignment by the San Francisco
Giants on Monday. The veteran left-hander
indicated this may signal the end to his 16-year
career.
Fassero was let go by the Giants after Sunday
night’s game in Philadelphia in which he allowed
a run on three walks in just 2/3rds of an inning
pitched. In ten appearances this season, he was
1-1 with a 7.80 ERA.
Originally drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in
1984, Fassero broke into the majors with
Montreal in 1991. In six years with the Expos,
Fassero went 58-48 with 10 saves. He has a
lifetime record of 121-124 with 25 saves and a
4.11 ERA after also seeing action with the
Mariners, Rangers, Red Sox, Cubs, Cardinals,
Rockies and Diamondbacks before joining the
Giants last season.
