Fish Designate Cepicky
5/4/06 – Outfielder Matt Cepicky, who spent parts
of three seasons with the Expos, was designated
for assignment on Wednesday by the Florida
Marlins.
The Marlins called up Cepicky from Triple-A
Albuquerque on April 17. In nine games with
Florida, Cepicky went 2 for 18. The Marlins have
10 days to trade, release or assign him to the
minor leagues.
Cepicky, who was a fourth round pick in the 1999
amateur draft, made his major league debut with
the Expos in 2002. He posted a .216 average with
three home runs and 15 RBI in 32 games.
Cepicky would appear in 37 more games for
Montreal over the next two seasons. He hit .240
with three RBI in 11 games last year for
Washington.
