Colon Lands On D.L.
4/20/06 – Bartolo Colon, a member of the
Montreal Expos in 2002, was placed on the 15-day
disabled list by the Los Angeles Angels of
Anaheim on Wednesday due to inflammation in
his right shoulder.

Colon, the reigning Cy Young Award winner in the
American League is 0-2 in three starts this year
with a 7.07 ERA.  Last season, Colon was 21-8
with a 3.48 ERA while striking out 157 batters in
222 2/3rds innings pitched.  He is expected to
miss just two starts and is scheduled to be re-
activated on May 2.

Colon broke into the majors with Cleveland in
1997 and pitched for the Tribe until a mid-season
trade to the Expos in 2002.  He was dealt to the
White Sox at the conclusion of that season and
signed with the Angels as a free agent in
December, 2003.

A 6’0, 185-pound right-hander, Colon entered this
season with a career record of 139-82 with 1,435
strikeouts and was an All-Star in 1998 and 2005.  
While with the Expos in 2002, he went 10-4 while
posting a 3.31 ERA in 17 games.
