Gabe White Announces Retirement
3/4/06 – Gabe White, a first round
draft pick by the Expos in 1990, has
announced his retirement from
baseball.

The 34-year-old southpaw was
a non-roster invitee to the Minnesota
Twins camp this spring.  He had
been competing for a spot in the
bullpen until he informed the club
of his decision on Friday.

White was selected by Montreal as
the 28th pick overall in the 1990
amateur draft and made his major
league debut with the Expos in 1994.

Over an 11-year big league career, White compiled a 34-26 record with 17
saves and a 4.71 ERA.   Besides for playing with Montreal, White had three
stints with the Cincinnati Reds and also saw action with the Colorado Rockies,
New York Yankees and St. Louis Cardinals.
