Brewers Ink Tomo Ohka
2/16/06 – The Milwaukee Brewers
signed right-handed pitcher Tomo
Ohka to a one-year contract yesterday.

Milwaukee acquired the 29-year-old
from Washington last June in ex-
change for Junior Spivey.  He made
20 starts and two relief appearances
for the Brewers, posting a 7-6 record
with a 4.35 ERA.

Ohka began his major league career
with the Boston Red Sox after being
purchased from the Yokohama Bay
Stars of Japan's Central League.

He was traded to the Montreal Expos
in 2001 and had his finest season the
following year, going 13-8 with a 3.18
ERA, seventh best in the league.

Ohka has a lifetime record of 44-53
with a 3.95 ERA over seven seasons.
